Research has clearly shown that children’s brains develop rapidly during the first five years of life, especially in the first three years. During this period they gain a sense of self, autonomy and independence. They also are curious and enthusiastic discoverers, exploring their environment through their five senses. We design our program keeping all of the above factors in mind. We are interested in the “Whole” child, and therefore ensures our programming focuses on social and emotional development, intellectual/cognitive development, physical development, and spiritual development. Our program creates safe and developmentally appropriate learning environments that empower toddlers to become confident, successful, lifelong learners.

At Cathedral Coop Daycare, providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to grow, explore and have fun is our paramount concern. We build caring, responsive relationships between our educators, children and families to create learning environments that foster a sense of belonging, provide rich opportunity for play, and cultivate each child’s competence, capacity and potential through a variety of fun, interesting and engaging activities. These activities are focused independent, structured and unstructured activities, that work towards fostering early literacy, language, mathematics, science and social skills.

We offer a full-time program for the Kindergarten age group. We walk children to Connaught School (public school system) and have school bus transportation to St. Pius School (separate school system). Our program provides children with a rich and interesting environment to explore. We encourage children’s feeling of competence by giving them opportunities to experiment and solve problems. We also add more and more physical activities through music and movement sessions, gym time and outdoor play. We include group activities and play acting to improve their social skills and build their team spirit.
